EPidemiologist
JOB DESCRIPTION
Epidemiologist are Public Health Professionals who investigate patterns and causes of disease and injury in humans. They seek to reduce the risk and occurrence of negative health outcomes through research, community educations, and health policies.
EDUCATION
The education need to become an Epidemiologist is at least a master's degree from an accredited post-secondary institution, a masters degree in public health, with an emphasis in epidemiology is most common, although Epidemiologist can earn degrees in a wide range of related fields and specializations. If you are an Epidemiologist and you would like to direct research products, including those who teach colleges, must have a PhD in their chosen field. Epidemiologist normally have to complete an internship that ranges anywhere from a semester to a year.
WORK HOURS
They normally work in offices and laboratories at health departments for state and local governments, in hospitals, or at colleges. They may have to travel a significant amount. Most Epidemiologist work full time and have a standard work schedule, sometimes they may have to work long or irregular hours in order to complete field work.
SALARY
The outlook for this job is estimated to grow 10% from year 2012 until year 2022. Most Epidemiologist earn an annual wage of $65,270 a year.
