PHLEBOTOMIST
JOB DESCRIPTION
A Phlebotomist, also known as a Phlebotomy Technician's primaty function is to collect blood samples from pateints. Some of the task they do include drawing blood from patients or donors, assemble equipment, and label and store blood containers for processing.
EDUCATION
The education required to become a Phlebotomist is a high school diploma or G.E.D with acceptable training. You also are required to take the Phlebotomy Training Course and pass the exam, the courses can take anywhere from 4 months to 1 year. Some places you can go for this course are the University of Pheonix, Cape Fear Community College, or UCLA. Most states require all Phlebotomy Techinicains to be certified and have a state license, it also helps to get employeed if you have pass the national exam.
CLOTHING
You have to wear protective clothing, gloves and othen mask because you are often exposed to disease and infections. Your hours working could vary, most Phlebotmist work full time and have a set work schedule. You may have to work nights, weekends, or even holidays.
